The selection process for the Tamil Nadu Sub-Inspector (SI) exam is comprehensive and includes several stages to ensure the selection of qualified candidates. Here are the stages involved in the selection process:
1. Written Examination:
The written examination is the first stage and consists of two parts:
- Part I: General Knowledge
- Part II: Psychology Test
2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT):
Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for the Physical Measurement Test. The measurements are as follows:
- For Male Candidates:
- Height: Minimum 170 cm (for General, BC, BCM, MBC/DNC) and 167 cm (for SC, SC(A), ST)
- Chest: Minimum 81 cm (normal) with an expansion of at least 5 cm
- For Female Candidates and Transgender Candidates:
- Height: Minimum 159 cm (for General, BC, BCM, MBC/DNC) and 157 cm (for SC, SC(A), ST)
3. Endurance Test:
Candidates who clear the PMT will undergo an Endurance Test.
- For Male Candidates:
- 1500 meters run to be completed in 7 minutes
- For Female Candidates and Transgender Candidates:
- 400 meters run to be completed in 2 minutes and 30 seconds
4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
Candidates who pass the Endurance Test will participate in the Physical Efficiency Test, which includes various events. Candidates must qualify in all the events:
- For Male Candidates:
- 100 meters run in 15 seconds
- 400 meters run in 80 seconds
- Long Jump: Minimum of 3.80 meters
- High Jump: Minimum of 1.20 meters
- Shot Put (7.26 kg): Minimum of 5.60 meters
- For Female Candidates and Transgender Candidates:
- 100 meters run in 17 seconds
- 200 meters run in 36 seconds
- Long Jump: Minimum of 2.75 meters
- Shot Put (4 kg): Minimum of 3.75 meters
5. Viva-Voce (Personal Interview):
Candidates who qualify in the PET will be called for a Viva-Voce. This is an interview stage where the candidate’s personality, communication skills, and suitability for the role of a Sub-Inspector are assessed.
6. Document Verification:
After the Viva-Voce, candidates will undergo Document Verification to confirm their eligibility based on their educational qualifications, age, community certificates, and other relevant documents.
7. Medical Examination:
Finally, candidates will have to pass a Medical Examination to ensure they are medically fit for the duties of a Sub-Inspector.
Final Selection:
The final selection of candidates will be based on their performance in the written examination, PMT, Endurance Test, PET, Viva-Voce, and subject to their medical fitness and document verification.
