What is the SSC CGL Exam?

Eligibility Criteria for SSC CGL Exam

SSC CGL Exam Pattern

The SSC CGL exam is conducted in three stages:

• Tier I: This is a computer-based test comprising of 100 multiple-choice questions. The exam is divided into four sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension.

• Tier II: This is a computer-based test comprising of 200 multiple-choice questions. The exam is divided into four sections: Quantitative Ability, English Language & Comprehension, Statistics and General Studies (Finance & Economics).

• Tier III: This is a descriptive paper in which the candidate has to write an essay or a letter.

Syllabus for SSC CGL Exam

The syllabus for the SSC CGL exam is divided into four sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension.

• General Intelligence & Reasoning: This section tests the candidate’s ability to think logically and solve problems. It covers topics such as analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision-making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, coding and decoding, etc.

• General Awareness: This section tests the candidate’s knowledge of current affairs and general knowledge. It covers topics such as history, geography, Indian economy, Indian polity, general science, etc.

• Quantitative Aptitude: This section tests the candidate’s ability to solve numerical problems. It covers topics such as number systems, simplification, HCF & LCM, percentages, averages, ratios & proportions, time & work, time & distance, profit & loss, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, data interpretation, etc.

• English Comprehension: This section tests the candidate’s ability to read, understand and interpret English. It covers topics such as grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, comprehension, etc.
