The eligibility criteria for female candidates appearing for the Indian Police Service (IPS) exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) are the same as those for male candidates. Here are the general eligibility requirements:

  1. Nationality:
    • Candidates must be citizens of India, or
    • Citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
    • Persons of Indian origin who have migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  2. Age Limit:
    • The candidate must be at least 21 years old and must not have attained the age of 32 years on August 1 of the year of examination. However, there are relaxations in the upper age limit for certain categories as per government rules.
  3. Educational Qualification:
    • A candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree from any recognized university or possess an equivalent qualification.
  4. Physical Fitness:
    • Candidates, both male and female, must meet the physical standards set by the UPSC. These standards include height, chest circumference, and other physical attributes.
  5. Attempts Limit:
    • The number of attempts allowed varies depending on the category of the candidate. Generally, the number of attempts is limited to six for General category candidates, nine for OBC candidates, and there are no restrictions for SC/ST candidates.

Female candidates interested in pursuing a career in the Indian Police Service are encouraged to carefully review the official UPSC notification for the specific year of examination to ensure they meet all eligibility criteria before applying. It’s important to note that there are no gender-specific eligibility criteria for the IPS exam.
