CCSE Group 1 (Combined Civil Services Examination – Group 1) conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC)  and the CCSE Group 1 syllabus:

The CCSE Group 1 examination usually consists of three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination:
    • General Studies (Degree Standard): This may include topics such as History and Culture of India, Geography, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, General Science, Current Events, and Aptitude & Mental Ability Tests.
  2. Main Written Examination:
    • Paper-I: Modern History of India and Indian Culture
    • Paper-II: General Aptitude and Mental Ability Test
    • Paper-III: Administration of Union and States with special reference to Tamil Nadu
    • Paper-IV: Socio-Economic Issues in Tamil Nadu/India
    • Paper-V: General Science
    • Paper-VI: Current events of national and international importance
    • Interview and Record: The qualified candidates from the Main Written Examination will be called for an interview, and their records will also be taken into account.
  3. Interview and Record:
    • An oral test in the form of an interview is conducted for candidates who have qualified in the Main Written Examination.
    • The interview assesses the candidate’s suitability for a career in public service.
