SSC JE Salary Structure

As of September 2021, the salary structure for SSC (Staff Selection Commission) Junior Engineers (JE) is subject to change and may vary based on the specific department, location, and other factors. SSC JE is a Group B non-gazetted post in various government organizations, primarily involved in the engineering-related work.

Here’s a general idea of the salary structure for SSC JE:

  1. Basic Pay: The basic pay for an SSC JE varies depending on the department and the city of posting. Typically, it ranges from Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 44,900 per month.
  2. Dearness Allowance (DA): DA is revised periodically and is calculated as a percentage of the basic pay. It’s meant to offset the impact of inflation. As of my last update, it was around 17% of the basic pay.
  3. House Rent Allowance (HRA): HRA is provided to employees to cover their rental expenses. The HRA amount depends on the city of posting and can vary from 8% to 24% of the basic pay.
  4. Transport Allowance: This allowance is provided to cover commuting expenses. The amount depends on the city of posting and can range from Rs. 1,800 to Rs. 3,600 per month.
  5. Other Allowances: SSC JE may also be eligible for other allowances like Special Duty Allowance, Travelling Allowance, etc., depending on the specific department and the nature of the job.
  6. Gross Salary: The gross salary is the sum of the basic pay and all the allowances mentioned above.
  7. Deductions: Deductions like Provident Fund (PF), Income Tax, and other statutory deductions will be applicable as per the government rules.
  8. In-Hand Salary: The in-hand salary is the amount you receive after deducting all applicable taxes and deductions.
