Civil services are jobs that are directly related to public service and are considered highly prestigious designation in India.
UPSC organizes the civil service exams for vacancies in the central government while PSC in every state positions the vacancies in the state government. There are approximately 24 services that come during the civil service exam conducted by the UPSC each year. These services include IAS, IFS, IPS and etc.

Indian Administrative Service (IAS)
Indian Administrative Service is one of the 3 All India services.
IAS is the permanent branch of government of India and state government.
The IAS positions is responsible for formulating and implementing government policies.
Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is an all-India Administrative Civil Service of India.
The IAS probationers start their training at LBSNAA, Mussoorie.
Indian Police Service (IPS)
Indian Police Service is one of the three All India Services.
IPS officers will be trained at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
The IPS officers hold senior designations in the police service.
The IPS officers hold senior designations in RAW, IB, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) etc.
Indian Forest Service (IFoS)
Indian Forest Service (IFoS) is one of the three All India Services.
The highest post of IFoS officers serving in the central government is the Director-General (DG) for Forests.
The highest post of IFoS officers works for the state government is called as chief conservator of forests.
Indian Forest Service position belongs to the Ministry of Environmental Forests and Climate Change.
IFoS officers also get an opportunity to work in a variety of organizations like Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO).
Group ‘A’ Civil Services
All the positions for which the UPSC exam is conducted are highly reputable and preferrable, be it the All India Services, Group ‘A’ or Group ‘B’ records.
Foreign Service of India (IFS)
IFS officers will start their training at LBSNAA and then forwarded on to the Foreign Services Institute in New Delhi.
It is one of the most popular civil services in Group “A”.
IFS officers are in charge of India’s foreign affairs.
IFS officers can still become High Commissioner, Ambassadors, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN and Foreign Secretary.
A candidate selected in the IFSI may not reappear in the public service examination.
Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS)
IA&AS is one of the most popular civilian services in group “A”.
They start their training at NAAA, Shimla.
This framework is also under the control of the Auditor General (GAC).
This framework carries out the financial audit of the various government organizations such as central government, state governments and public sector enterprises (SDP).
Indian Civil Account Service (ICAS)
This framework belongs to the public office group “A”.
They operate under the subordination of the Ministry of Finance.
The head of this framework is the Controller General of Auditors.
They are trained at the National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM), Faridabad and the Institute of Accounts and Government Finance (INGAF).
Indian Corporate Law Service (ICLS)
This is the service of group “A” operating under the subordination of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The main objective of this service is to govern the corporate sectors in India.
Training for trainee officers takes place at ICLS Academy, located at the Manesar Campus of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA).
ICLS officers will receive extensive training in various subjects such as law, economics, finance and accounting.
Indian Defense Account Service (IDAS)
This framework is subordinated to the Ministry of Defence.
Officers of this staff are intially trained at CENTRAD, New Delhi. Then the NIFM; Institute of Financial Management of the National Defense Academy, Pune.
IDAS personnel officers mainly serves for the Border Roads Organization (BRO), the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), and the Articles Factories.
The main motive of this framework is the auditing of defense accounts.
This service is headed by the General Controller of Defense Accounts (CGDA) and also works as Chief Account Officer for the heads of drdo, BRO and artillery factories
Indian Defense Estates Service (IDES)
The training of officers in this setting takes place at the National Institute of Defense Estates in New Delhi.
The main motive of this service is the management of cantonments and lands belonging to the defense institution.
Indian Intelligence Service (IIS)
This is the service of Group “A”, which is pledged for managing the media wing of the Government of India.
The main responsibility of this service is to act as a link between the Government and the public.
IIS is subordinated to the Ministry of Information and Audiovisual.
Initial training for recruits of this framework takes place at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC).
Officers in this framework work in different media departments such as DD, GDP, AIR, etc.
Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS)
This is the public service of group “A”, charged with the pledging of managing a large number of Indian artillery factories that produce defense equipment, weapons and ammunition.
This service is subordinated to the Ministry of Defence.
The candidates selected under this framework will undergo training at the National Academy of Defense Production which is located in Nagpur for a period of 1 year and 3 months.
Financial Communication Services in India (ICFS)
It is part of the public service of group “A”, it was earlier known as the Financial and Financial Service of Post and Telecommunications of India (IP&TAFS).
The candidates recruited for this framework attend courses at the National Institute of Financial Management located in Faridabad.
The main motive of this framework is to offer accounting and financial services to Indian posts and telecommunications departments.
Indian Postal Service (IPoS)
This service also falls within the public services of Group “A”.
Candidates recruited for this framework are attending courses at the Rafi Ahmed Kidwai National Postal Academy (RAKNPA) in Ghaziabad.
IPoS officers are recruited as senior grade officers in India Post. This service is pledged for running the India Post service.
This service is responsible for the various services offered by India Post; from legendary postal services, banking services, e-commerce services, payment of old-age pensions, mgnrega salaries.
Indian Railway Account Service (IRAS)
IRAS officers are pledged for maintaining and managing the finances and accounts of the Indian Railways.
After selection, IRAS stagnations follow a two-year training program at the National Academy of Direct Taxes in Nagpur; The Railway Staff College in Vadodara; and exclusive training institutes, together with the construction organizations, the division, the production units of the Indian Railways and the zonal railways.
Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS)
The starting training is initiated at LBSNAA and will receive additional training at various institutes such as the National Academy of Direct Taxes, the Rcvp Noronha Academy of Administration, the Institute of Human Resources Development Dr. Marri Channa Reddy.
The next set of training may take place at the National Academy of Indian Railways located in Vadodara.
The main motive of the officers in this framework is the management of the huge human resources of the Indian railways.
Indian Rail Traffic Service (IRTS)
IRTS is part of group “A” public service.
IRTS staff officers attend courses at Railway Staff College located at Vadodara and the Indian Railway Institute of Transportation Management located in Lucknow.
Their primary responsibility to generate revenue for India’s railways.
This service acts as a link between railways and the public; railways and also to the corporate sector.

Indian Income Service (IRS)
IRS officers are undergoing start of their training at the LBSNAA, additional training will be at NADT, which is located at Nagpur and at the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics located in Faridabad.

Indian Trade Service (ITS)

Railway Protection Force (RPF)

DANICS
This service works as a food service for the Indian Administrative Service.
The full form is Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Services operating under the government of India.
The initial secondment of officers from the cadres is the role of Collector’s Assistant (District Administration, Delhi).

DANIPS
DANIPS stands for “NCT of Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli Police Service”.
