To be eligible for the NEET examination, a candidate must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. Age: The candidate should be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the year of admission. The upper age limit for NEET is 25 years for general category candidates, and 30 years for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
  2. Educational Qualification: The candidate should have passed class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as compulsory subjects. The minimum aggregate marks required for general category candidates is 50%, while for SC/ST/OBC candidates it is 40%.
  3. Nationality: The candidate should be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). NRIs and foreign nationals are also eligible to appear for NEET, subject to eligibility criteria as prescribed by the Government of India.
