List of Competitive Exams in India

Here’s a list of some major competitive exams conducted in India:

  1. UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE): Conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various civil services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), etc.
  2. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Examinations: SSC conducts various exams such as Combined Graduate Level (CGL), Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL), Junior Engineer (JE), Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), etc., for recruitment to various government departments and ministries.
  3. Banking Exams: These include exams conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and the State Bank of India (SBI) for recruitment to Probationary Officer (PO), Clerk, Specialist Officer (SO), and other positions in public sector banks.
  4. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Exams: These exams are conducted by various RRBs for recruitment to various posts in the Indian Railways, including Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP), Technician, Group D posts, etc.
  5. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET): Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), NEET is the entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses in government and private medical colleges in India.
  6. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE): JEE Main and JEE Advanced are conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutes.
  7. Common Law Admission Test (CLAT): CLAT is conducted for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programs offered by 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) and other institutions.
  8. National Defence Academy (NDA) Examination: Conducted by the UPSC, NDA examination is for admission to the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the NDA and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC).
  9. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE): GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for admission to postgraduate programs in engineering and technology.
  10. Management Entrance Exams: These include exams like Common Admission Test (CAT), Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), Management Aptitude Test (MAT), etc., for admission to various management programs offered by top B-Schools in India.
