SSC Exam Pattern

SSC CGL Pattern:

As per the year 2018, the new pattern for SSC CGL includes 4 tiers, which are discussed below here:-

  1. Tier 1 – Preliminary Exam
  2. Tier 2 – Mains
  3. Tier  3 – Descriptive
  4. Tier 4 – DEST and CPT

Here is the detailed pattern of the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam:-

As the tier 1 exam includes four subjects that are; –

The total question is 100, combining 200 marks. Each question carries 2 marks.

Paper Mode; The tier 1 exam is conducted online

Negative marks of 0.50  are deducted for answering the wrong question. The question is an objective type having multiple choice. The aspirants can select their own preferred language Hindi or English. When you qualify for Tier 1 then you can step on to the Tier 2 exam.

Paper mode: The tier 2 exam is conducted online

Negative mark  – Deducted 0.25 marks for each wrong question for paper 2 and 0.50 marks were deducted for paper 1, paper 3, and paper 4.

Question type: Objective type with Multiple choice questions.

Preferred Language: – Hindi and English          

When one qualifies tier 2 exam then move to the tier 3 exam.

SSC CGL Tier 3 Pattern

As we have discussed in the image above mode of examination is offline; the paper carries a total of 100 marks with a duration of one hour for all and 80 min for cerebral palsy. This examination is held to evaluate the writing skills which are important for government jobs. The paper includes the writing of the essay, a passage of 250 words; letter application approx. writing 150 words. The 33 percent is the qualifying mark for the tier 3 exam. The same preferred language is Hindi and English.  The question comes based on the 10 + 2 standards.

The aspirants who qualify for both Tier 1 and Tier 11 then combining the mark of both, would determine the eligibility of the candidates to appear in Tier 3 and Tier 4.

When an aspirant steps to appear Tier 4 exam after qualifying the Tier 2 and Tier 3, the aspirant has to step on to the Tier 4 exam with both DEST AND CPT test

CPT test is conducted for posts like:-

  1. Asst Section Officer in CSS
  2. Asst Section Officer ( MEA)
  3. Asst in section Fraud Investigation Office (SFIQ)
  4. Affair and Assistant (GSI ) in the ministry of mines
  5. Inspector (Central Excise)
  6. Inspector (Preventive Officer) 
  7. Inspector (Examiner) in CBEC
  8. Assistant Section officer in AFHQ

Whereas the DEST exam the qualifying aspirants have to appear within 8000 key depression per hour only for the Tax Assistant post.
