1. Written Examination

The written examination is the first stage of the selection process and is designed to test the candidate’s knowledge in various subjects, including general studies and technical topics related to forests and wildlife.

  • Exam Type: Objective Type (Multiple Choice Questions)
  • Total Marks: 300
  • Total Questions: 150
  • Duration: 3 hours

Sections in the Written Exam:

  1. General Knowledge (GK):
    • Total Questions: 100
    • Maximum Marks: 200
    • Syllabus:
      • General Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
      • Current Events (National and International)
      • Geography (Physical Geography, Economic Geography, Geography of India)
      • History and Culture of India and Tamil Nadu
      • Indian Polity (Constitution, Governance, Public Policy)
      • Indian Economy (Planning, Growth, Development, Government Schemes)
      • Indian National Movement
      • Aptitude and Mental Ability (Reasoning, Analytical Ability)
  2. General Tamil / General English:
    • Total Questions: 50
    • Maximum Marks: 100
    • Syllabus:
      • Candidates can choose between General Tamil or General English.
      • General Tamil: Includes grammar, comprehension, proverbs, phrases, literary knowledge, etc.
      • General English: Includes grammar, comprehension, vocabulary, sentence structure, etc.

Minimum Qualifying Marks:

  • Candidates need to secure the minimum qualifying marks as prescribed by TNPSC, which may vary for different categories (SC/ST/OBC/General).

2. Physical Standards Test (PST)

Candidates who clear the written examination are required to undergo a Physical Standards Test (PST) to ensure they meet the necessary physical criteria.

  • Height:
    • Men: Minimum 163 cm
    • Women: Minimum 150 cm
    • SC/ST/Tribal Candidates: Relaxation in height as per government norms.
  • Chest (For Men Only):
    • Normal: Minimum 79 cm
    • Expansion: Minimum 84 cm

3. Endurance Test

Candidates who qualify in the PST will have to undergo an Endurance Test to assess their physical stamina and endurance.

  • Endurance Test for Men: 25 km walk to be completed in 4 hours.
  • Endurance Test for Women: 16 km walk to be completed in 4 hours.

4. Document Verification

After clearing the written exam, PST, and Endurance Test, candidates will undergo document verification. Candidates must produce original documents to verify their age, educational qualifications, community certificate, etc.

5. Final Selection

The final selection of candidates is based on the marks obtained in the written examination, subject to qualifying in the Physical Standards and Endurance Tests. Candidates who clear all stages will be appointed as Forest Guards.
