  1. Number of Papers: The TNPSC Group 2 Mains Examination consists of three papers.

  3. Paper-wise Structure:
    • Paper I: General Studies (Degree Standard) – 300 Marks
      • Duration: 3 hours
      • This paper covers a broad range of topics including General Science, Current Events, Geography of India and Tamil Nadu, History and Culture of India, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Indian National Movement, Aptitude and Mental Ability Tests of Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude, and Data Interpretation.
    • Paper II: General Tamil/General English (SSLC Standard) – 150 Marks
      • Duration: 3 hours
      • Candidates need to choose either General Tamil or General English.
      • The paper assesses language skills, grammar, comprehension, and translation abilities.
    • Paper III: Interview and Records – 40 Marks
      • The interview is conducted for candidates who qualify in the written examination.
      • It assesses the candidate’s personality, intellectual ability, and suitability for administrative roles.
  4. Marks Distribution:
    • Paper I (General Studies): 300 Marks
    • Paper II (General Tamil/General English): 150 Marks
    • Interview (Personality Test): 40 Marks
  5. Selection Process:
    • Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Mains Examination.
    • Based on the marks obtained in the Mains Examination (Paper I and Paper II) and Interview (Paper III), a final merit list is prepared.
    • Final selection is based on the combined performance in the Mains Examination and Interview.
  6. Negative Marking: There is no negative marking in the TNPSC Group 2 Mains Examination.
