RRB ALP Exam Syllabus

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) exam every year, and it is one of the most sought after exams in the country. The exam is primarily conducted to recruit skilled and talented candidates for the position of Loco Pilot, which is an integral part of the Indian Railways.

  1. Mathematics: It is an important section that tests the candidate’s mathematical aptitude. It includes basic arithmetic as well as advanced topics like algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and probability.
  2. General Intelligence and Reasoning: The section consists of questions based on analogies, coding, decoding, syllogism, statement and conclusion, and spatial visualization.
  3. General Science: The section includes questions based on physics, chemistry, and biology. The candidates are expected to have a basic understanding of concepts in these subjects.
  4. General Awareness: The section tests the candidate’s knowledge of current affairs, history, geography, economics, and politics.
  5. Technical Ability: This section is specially designed for the candidates who have applied for the technical posts. It includes questions related to the technical skills required for the job, and the syllabus is specific to the stream chosen by the candidates.

The RRB ALP exam has two stages, namely the CBT1 and CBT2. The syllabus for both stages is similar, and the only difference is that the difficulty level of the questions in CBT2 is higher than CBT1.
